There are a great number of factors which will impact the price you pay and it all starts with the type of supply/meter you have, how much you use, when you use it and when/how you purchase it.
We are happy to provide you with our free, consultative advice throughout the whole process of your energy procurement journey and can certainly help look at both time and financial savings for businesses with multi-site premises and streamline your acquisition process.
For larger business users it is worth noting that circa 62% of your electricity bill is made up of charges and levies and only 38% relates to the actual energy usage costs. There are an array of levies and charges which can be added which are a mixture of environmental or government-led and which all relate to supply and infrastructure. Some less ethical brokers do not provide an “apples for apples” price comparison and by missing out certain charges they attempt to give themselves an unfair advantage by appearing to be cheaper when in fact they are not.
From April 2022, OFGEM have introduced a new set of charges which will result in increases for almost all existing energy contracts (even those who had tied-in to a fixed contract some time previously). Very few contracts written before then will be exempt and you should be aware that that there will be increases to your on-going energy costs as within the small print of most contracts will be a clause which allows your energy supplier to amend and increase their charges when there is a new levy or an increase in an existing one.
We can review and un-pick your bills and help spot and resolve any anomalies. By way of example, we retrospectively challenged an existing supplier of a client for a previous contract which we did not assist with but where their supplier had allocated an incorrect KVA rating on their bills which we arranged to have backdated and which saved them circa £2,000 per month for the remaining term of their contract.
Given the increasing complexities of purchasing your energy we would always encourage businesses to take the time to find a competent energy consultant where they are confident in their knowledge, abilities and the advice and services they offer. A good energy broker can then discuss the market, the pros and cons of suppliers and their products, look out for onerous clauses in their contracts and allow you to make a more informed decision.
Please get in touch for a free, no-obligation discussion – even if you are still in contract for some time to come.
