Business Water Rates were privatised in Scotland years ago but many businesses are still paying the same provider (usually Scottish Water Business Stream) and have never looked to see if/where savings can be made – particularly with multi-site premises.
As switching can normally be completed within 3 weeks, savings can be made from the second month after contacting us.
No site visit is normally required and the quote/paperwork can all provided and returned online.
All non-domestic customers in Scotland are charged on a metered basis unless it is not practical to do so.
Property and road drainage charges are based on the rateable value of the property.
Water and sewerage charges are made up of six elements:
A fixed charge for water
A volumetric charge for water
A fixed charge for wastewater
A volumetric charge for wastewater
Property drainage
Roads drainage
Some of the reasons you may benefit from switching water supplier include:
· Cost-savings through better tariffs made
available by another water retailer
· Seeking better service levels, which
might include improved customer
services, more timely responses to
enquiries and more accurate billing.
· Finding a supplier with more expertise
serving and working with organisations
in your industry, or with your specific
operational needs
· Taking advantage of value-added
services in addition to the core water
supply and wastewater services
· Consolidating some or all of your water
supply and wastewater services across
multiple sites.
When you switch water supplier it usually takes around three weeks from start to finish. We take care of everything and you keep you fully informed throughout the process. When we request a transfer from your current provider we agree a transfer date for the switch. When your water account transfers across a meter reading is taken – it’s that easy!
It took a further 9 years after Scotland deregulated before the English water market did so in April 2017. After England deregulated, the water industry was split into water wholesalers and water suppliers. Water wholesalers are responsible for supplying clean water and removing the wastewater from your property in your local area. Wholesalers maintain the entire water network from reservoirs, treatment centres, to the pipes that enter your property.
Any problems with your water supply, your water meter, or a leak to your property, will be the responsibility of the wholesaler to fix the problem.
Business water suppliers purchase water in bulk from the wholesaler and sell it to individual business customers anywhere in the country.
The responsibilities of the water supplier are as follows:
· Accurately invoice your business for the water used.
· Provide customer services and act as a point of contact if
anything goes wrong.
· Read meters.
